ABOUT

8053 TOKYO is a jewelry and accessory brand based in Tokyo, founded by a mother at 80 and her daughter at 53.

The brand name is a combination of their ages — a number that carries the story of their identities and their journey of co-creation.

Having each run their own independent brands, the two came together to mark the mother's 80th milestone, launching 8053 TOKYO as a celebration of craft and new beginnings.

At the heart of 8053's work is a commitment to challenging materials.

From plastic bottles to discarded garbage bags, the brand embraces materials rarely seen in conventional jewelry, finding new possibilities in everyday objects and things once thrown away.

It is precisely because of the refined eye and deep understanding of materials that comes from a lifetime of creative practice that the two are able to transform the "discarded" into art.

Honoring the individuality of each material, their work is shaped by a spirit of playfulness and imagination — free from convention, and full of unexpected expression.

What they strive to create is "wearable art" — pieces that bring quiet moments of surprise and joy into everyday life.

Their greatest hope is that each piece finds its way to someone, and leaves them with a small, unexpected moment of happiness.
